Then on Sunday Rinda challenged her blog followers to make something Alice in Wonderland themed......I loved the Alice books as a child.......and the part I remember most is The Mad Hatters Tea Party.......perhaps because I've always loved tea time.....sadly it's a meal rarely eaten now.
As a child [back in the dark ages] we had school dinner [no packed lunches then] and then came home to tea......sandwiches..... or scones.....or teacakes....or egg on toast.....always followed by cakes....everything homemade and delicious.
Like most families, we now usually have dinner in the evenings.........teatime is a rare treat......but a family tradition has grown up to have a big [extended] family tea on Easter Sunday. This involves everybody bringing traditional tea time treats......a table groaning under all the food- ham, salad, sandwiches, scones, teabread, and at least 5 types of homemade cakes......an enormous teapot........about 15 people.........most definately a main meal......what used to be called 'high tea'.
So.......I was inspired to use Rinda's challenge very practically.......making invitations to Easter tea.......on an Alice theme.......2 made so far.......3 more to go.
Now Die Cut Dreams have an Easter challenge this week.........don't think this is really what they had in mind......but it's definately for Easter!!!!

These are great, Jacky! Where did you come up with the Alice pictures? I also saw Rhinda's challenge and knew I didn't have anything "Alice" to use. What courses did you sign up for?
Great idea Jacky, boy I'd love to come for tea too, is my invite in the post lol. I have this image and a few others to boot, definitely very popular at the minute. Love how you have put your invite together.

Oh, fabulous! I love this post..the invitations, the idea of having a "tea", the nostalgia..all of it. And Jacky, you are a star..the icecream was magic!
I think your tea guests are going to love the invitation.
I think the obsession has something to do with "Johnny Depp"...LOL. Great projects. Love them, Hugs Avril xxx
Great invites. I'm sure the obsession is from the new movie - but the previews scare the bejeezus out of me. That's one obsession I'll pass on! :)
This is great Jacky and as you say, certainly different. Thanks for joining us at DCD.

They look so vintage...fabby retro chic! i think the film has a lot to answer for, I gather the Odeon group will not be showing the film tho! I really love BIG family get togethers and the idea of a big proper tea with all the goodies sounds divine would love to have this Easter Tradition in my house some day xxx
