A gem of a museum

We discovered the Palau March Museum in Palma quite by accident as we wandered the streets.....and decided to pop in and look around.....I'm so glad we did.....as although it was small.....and much of it didn't actually interest us....it contained a real gem.
There was a large outdoor courtyard containing sculptures......and a room of Salvador Dali paintings...
but then we came upon the real gem....which were behind glass and almost impossible to photograph.......and while most museums have a shop full of things that you don't want.....this museum had no shop at all.....just when I would have liked to buy some pictures or a pamphlet.
There were 2 rooms full of what are called 'Nativity scenes'....though they are actually a series of the most interesting miniature scenes......showing the most amazing detail. Every single face looked different and even the tiniest piece of food or tool was a perfect miniature. We ended up spending a couple of hours just looking at all the amazing details.....every time I decided to move on to the next one.....another tiny detail caught my eye.....they were wonderful.

What a nice thing to stumble upon :) My father in law was an artist in circus minatures and had a show in North Carolina.

What detailed and careful work must have gone into these - very special indeed. And I can understand how frustrating it must have been not to be able to get a decent reproduction ... Your photos do give us a really good idea, though. Thank- you!
