And the sun came out for the torch......

It has rained for 4 weeks......it poured again yesterday......we were beginning to think it would never stop......but today the Olympic torch came to our town......and the sun came out for the torch.....along with what seemed like the entire Sussex police force!!
It arrived early evening.......and the mixture of sun and sea mist gave it quite an eerie feel.
The torch was proceeded by a whole convoy of police and Olympic sponsors. It traveled the entire 4 mile length of our main sea road.

I'm not much of a sports fan.......and I'm sure I'll be fed up of all the TV and news coverage long before the Olympics is over.....but seeing the torch is a once in a lifetime deal.....not to be missed.
We chose to watch on the quieter part of the journey because G knows the torch bearer.......once it got to the main part of town it would have been much busier.....with more of a carnival feel.
But we had a perfect view where we were.....there would have been no chance of that further down the route.

And then it was gone.......it isn't actually leaving town til tomorrow morning......I just hope it doesn't take the sun with it!!!!

That's fantastic the rain stopped for everyone to be able to see and take some photos! Very exciting and wonderful shots to scrap :)

The torch relay was a big deal here for Sydney 2000 - but, I can understand how all the hoopla gets a bit much ..... having said that, I am certainly an Olympics fan!

Great photos Jackie, I guess it did take the sun with it after all (if your weather is the same as ours today!). I'm like you and not a huge sports fan but I'm glad I made the effort to go and see the torch come through. xx

Both you and Rhona got to see the torch. When the Olympics were here it was never near enough to go see! Great photos!

Something about those misty pictures really has me smelling your sea air now. Very atmospheric! I was talking to someone who carried a torch here recently and he said he had been overwhelmed by the number of people who had come out to watch.
