Jubilee-Cover to Cover

I signed up for Shimelle's 'Cover to Cover' class......and then May turned into the month it was......and I wasn't really able to join in.......which was very disappointing as being part of the forum is one of the best things about Shimelle's classes.
But I have been reading the prompts......and loving lots of her ideas for organising your scrapbooking.
She stores her pages chronologically.......in yearly albums......and any event that needs more than 4 pages is a candidate for it's own album......which she calls an 'upgrade album'.
This makes me realise that not only am I pretty good at 'upgrade' albums......they are actually the main albums that I complete!!!!! Holidays, Christmas, days out, special events etc.......usually in mini albums or 8.5 x 11 albums.
It's all my other pages that are in a mess........stored in 'holding' albums.......or boxes......and not having much meaning to anyone but myself.......and not really being looked at either.
This is going to change......I know I won't have time for a major re-organisation til the summer holidays.......but then all my pages are going into albums.......properly sorted out.....chronologically......by year where possible.
But something else she said rang a warning bell.......that when you make an 'upgrade' album....you also need a page about the event in your main album.......otherwise anyone looking at the album would not know it had happened.
So I'm starting as I mean to go on.......I'll certainly be making a mini album about our Jubilee celebrations.......and with all the photos I've got.......it may not be that mini either.......but I'm starting with a page for my 2012 album [the album I didn't even know I was making til class!!]......with an assortment of photos from last weekend.
I splattered some red and blue paint.......that was a bit scary.....not something I've done on a page before........and made the photo booth photos in Big Huge Labs......some stamping.......a few embellishments.......and a bit of journaling.
Jennifer's hosting a Scrapbooking Soiree.......why not pop over and have a look.....and link your page.

I am LOVING this layout of yours and welcome to the world of "splodging"!!!! SOunds like a great idea to put a page in your main album to remind people that it happened and to mention that there's a separate album somewhere too - it will be a great record, particularly for little A (and any other grandchildren who happen along) in the future.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend

Love your layout. What a lovely way to record a fabulous weekend. I like the sound of your organisation plans and I hope that you are able to get the time to definitely complete them!

Great layout, Jacky! I love the photo strips. I've been using a chronological system for my layouts for a couple of years now, and I love it. I put both 8,5X11 and 12X12 pages in the same album. I need some new 12X12 albums from Archivers, but I have to wait until this summer when we are traveling to get to an Archiver's store. Sadly, I still have some 8.5X11 albums that I'm unlikely to use.

Fantastic page Jacky.

I wasn't able to keep up with Cover to Cover either, however I've been reading all the prompts & message board threads the last few days and have really enjoyed it. I have some ideas for adding cohesiveness to my cruise album & made a page last week with an additional 6x12 based on one of her videos.

Great layout and well done on the splattering ;) I have never thought about the fact that it might be a lost event if not documented int he main album, thanks for the thought to ponder.

I'm really liking your Jubilee page too. Like you - I signed up and have had such a manic May -I've not got very far with it.Some good stuff to read and help to sort albums though.

Wow, that was quick, thanks for joining in with my Soiree, and for the link back!

I had the same problem with cover-to-cover, I was really looking forward to joining in with the forum, but haven't managed it because of one-thing-or-another. I have started organising my albums and photos though, and will catch up with the prompts eventually!

I love your page, the paint looks great, and I love the photo strips! I'll look forward to seeing the upgrade album too :-)

I love your page Jacky, I am actually writing a opening or dedication page for my 31 Things class today ... it wouldn't make sense otherwise!

I adore that page - especially the shape of the photos.
I've noticed that more and more my scrapping has become "upgrade" albums, too. Especially travel and sports. I have taken very few "regular" pictures this year, except for my Week in a Life.

I love your page Jacky! I love that idea about "upgrade albums". I have so so many years worth of stuff to scrap but with my health problems I never seem to have the time to get it done how I want to. I will have to remember the chronological pages idea though, so it all flows nicely. I can't wait to make a jubliee album as it's a special time for us to remember and our future generations to see.

That's a lovely page Jacky, and I love mixing paint and papers. You pulled it off well. I loved your description of Shimelle's class too. I didn't subscribe because I wouldn't call myself a scrapbooker - I'm more into mini albums and handmade books. I look forward to hearing how you organise your pages and to seeing more of your Jubilee Celebrations. The events certainly did make for wonderful photos and memories.

This is a beautiful page Jacky. Your splattered ink looks brilliant, it really adds a uniqueness (is that even a word?) I really admire your scrapbooking and hope one day to make an album for my children when they are all grown up.
Stunning page and good luck with your organisation.

Fabulous page Jacky! I'm only catching it now after being sick, but I'm so glad I didn't miss it. I'm also cheered by hearing someone else might just have a few layouts stored in boxes :)

Gorgeous page - the film strip idea is a great way to include seprate album photos in your main album! Sounds like it was a pretty good class to have got you motivated too!
