I first saw them on Rinda's blog......and followed her link to The Counterfeit Kit......where there's loads of info and some really useful links....including videos. Mel and Karen are also making them.
They reminded me of the type of scrapbooks we kept as children......but a little less random......maybe more focused......and I definately wanted to make one.
Then I saw this great post by Shimelle.......and completely agreed that scrapbookers don't need to buy one....we have all the stuff to make our own......and if you're unsure how to go about it there's some great videos on YouTube on making your own.
So I started sorting and came up with......
Two 8 x 8 heavy duty chipboard squares for the covers.......decided I wanted ring binders....rather than bound....so that I could add pages as I went along......and knowing me there might be some 'fat' bits end up in there....which wouldn't work so well with a spiral bound book.
Mine is going to be made during the next 3 months.......and have a summer theme.......though there'll probably be some randomness as well!! Back and front covers made to match.
I then went through my stash looking for card that might work with the theme.......and came up with this lot.......which might still be added to....and includes some envelopes.......and pages with storage flaps.
And finally some 'bits and pieces' that might work with it......not exactly a kit.......but certainly a starting point that can be added to.
I'm really looking forward to this.......are you going to make a Smash book this summer??

Your covers look fabulous Jacky!
Great start to your 'Smash' book and I am teetering on making one but not quite sure yet.
I love how all of us have a different purpose and idea about these Smashbooks. I put a lot in mine yesterday and am so glad I made it. Your cover is fabulous!
Looking forward to seeing your book coming together. I made a rough sort of Smash book to take away on holiday the week before last. I used it as a diary and to keep all the bits and pieces that I collected when I was away. Just need to photograph it now and get it onto my blog!
I love anything with ring binders, so I like this version already Jacky :)
Jacky this is a fab version of the 'famous' Smash books and I am looking forward to seeing it's development over the summer. Love all those papers! Hugs Cherry XxX
Never heard of them before Jacky but you look all set to go and it sounds right up your street:)
Great job! Thanks for the shout-out. I'm thinking about doing a smash-book class next month at my studio!
Rinda
Wow this looks great Jackie, and those papers are gorgeous xxx
I might, now I've seen yours! Lovely colourway ...
I loved Smash books when I was reading feedback from CHA and tied to find somewhere to buy one. Now everyone is talking about them so I have gone off the idea again!! ha ha ha I am so perverse at times!
I'm thinking about it!!
I love your gathered supplies for this smash book Jacky, I think it looks great! I enjoyed Shimelle's discussion on the whole concept of smash books. Not so sure if I will Ever have time to make one!!!
Happy to hear the book arrived and that you are enjoying it already :)
This all looks so very exciting Jacky, can't wait to see your progress as you do it, I will have to go on You Tube and check these smash books out. Your papers and embellies look fab.
Happy crafting

I love it!!! I am loving all of the goodies you picked to put in it!
Love your Smash book Jacky, hope you have fun filling it up. I'm too lazy to make one, so I bought a few, LOL!
Your smash book looks good, hope you enjoy filling it up.
Not heard of smash books so I'll have to have a nosey. Love your covers and the stash you've gathered, looking forward to seeing it progress.
You are right - this is the "in" thing right now, and I suppose that is because the idea is so hard to resist. I like what you've pulled together, enjoy smashing it up!!
This is great- loving all of the bits you've pulled together!
As soon as I saw the Smash book after CHA I was hooked on the idea but now I am even more hooked on the idea of making my own! Not sure what I "need" to capture right now but your post is so inspiring for me to just get the stuff together for my own personal version. Yours is going to be awesome!
Looks like a kit to me - an awesome one! I'm working on a smash book for the summer too. Mine is much, much simpler. I can't wait to see how your turns out!
Wow - love the look of your kit! I'm still undecided about whether I would use one - so will be interested in how you use yours Hx
I've made mine, but you've inspired me to get together some extras to be ready to use - I'm sure it will be more effective that way.
tfs.
Your kit looks very exciting! Please post pictures once it's all done!!! xoxo
Oh Jacky, this is looking great :) Can't wait to see your pages take shape! I've managed a couple now, must remember to share them...
Your Smash book looks terrific! Love the cover and the kit looks wonderful! Terrific that you have a theme and a completion deadline!! Mine is ongoing because I tend to quit things! ;)
I like the supplies you chose for your smash book. I am thinking about making one for our summer adventures too. Hopefully I will find the time to do it. :)
Isn't it funny how old becomes new and fresh and hip again? Love it! I made one of these too but I like how focused yours is! Great job!
I plan on doing this myself, and I love the direction you are going in. I don't own a BIA, so I'm thinking of using binding rings, as well. The products you pulled together are gorgeous, and your covers are an awesome start!
This is gorgeous! I can't wait to see more of it!
This looks like an exciting project - look forward to seeing how it progresses! I'm going to have to check out the You Tube videos as I haven't seen them yet.
