Inspiration is found in the strangest of places!!

I walked into the charity shop.....and there it was....laying on the floor....an old, tatty Road Atlas of Great Britain......a bit expensive at 99p.......I mean, who wants a 1992 road atlas......it wouldn't get you far.....and certainly couldn't compete with a sat nav.......but I didn't want to go anywhere.......to me it said "travel canvas"......not to mention scrapbook pages and cards.....and at A3 size it had enough pages to last a lifetime......99p....a bargain!!
So this canvas started its life there on the shop floor.......ideas buzzing round my head......though as I love travelling.....I don't know why I hadn't thought of doing one before.
The map paper is just visible in parts under all the paint and inks!!!!
Loads of varied stamps used on this one.......a few rub ons......as well as Bo Bunny paper for the Italian looking door. I also used some Tim Holtz crackle paint on one part......and rubbed some metallic gold into the cracks.
This is the first canvas I've added some embellishments..........a ship button........and some 'vintage' travel related stickers.

I would absolutely love to see this in real life Jacky - I'm sure I'd spend ages looking at the textures

I'm just laughing out loud and glowing on the inside about how you've come over to the dark side of mixed media!

You do realize if you keep posting these adorable works of art, I am going to have to go sign up for that She Art class and I REALLY don't have time for it right now! Are you determined to turn me into a mixed media junkie? Cause it sure is calling my name...

If only I'd known Jacky - I could have mailed you a few pages from my 1990 road atlas that I keep for just such an occasion - great work, you are on such a creative roll.

Greetings from still soggy Florida!

Jacky I really love that you are creating all these girls:) I sent Christy an e-mail the other day asking if she could get someone to make a graph roller stamp like the one she uses! She said the company would discuss it!!

I am with Sian and I can feel Rinda's pride in your development as a mixed media artist - go Jacky!

I think I need to visit the Op shop soon, I love the idea of using old maps and books on pages :-) Hehehehehhee, and how do you think I might do that you ask - I have no idea myself but I love the thought of it!
