Art Journal Calendar Challenge

Over at The Kathryn Wheel there's a challenge to make a year long art journal calendar......lots of people joined in last year.....and it's back again this year......take a look here to see the challenge and the amazing pages Kate made last year.
Over at Rinda's......where she makes wonderful art journals........ she's giving inspiration.......and a challenge......for a year long project to art journal your resolutions and intentions.......take a look here.
Now.....if you visit my blog......you'll already know that my projects tend to be 'cute and layered'........so art journaling is waaaaaaaaaaaay out of my comfort zone.......more from another planet......even though I love what other people do with it.
But.......developing new creative skills fits in very well with my'one little word' for 2011 [you'll have to wait for that!!!].......so I'm giving the calendar a go.......in fact, I've even made my first page.
It's A3 paper........painted with Dabbers in aqua, stream and snow cap.....sprayed with silver and pearl Glimmer Mists........stamped with snowflakes in white and silver [not that I actually want anymore snow, but it did seem apt!!]........a vintage snow scene.......and some doodled silver trees added.
The 31 squares are about 2 1/4 inches....cut from various winter papers.....and Thickers for the 'January'.
Now all I have to do is add journaling and doodled pictures each day........make a new page each month........and at the end of the year I will have a record of the year in it's entirety....that, of course......is if I manage to keep up with it!!!!!
So.......now I'm off to see what I have to do to join in with Rinda's challenge.......I may not have any time for cardmaking this coming year!!!!

I saw this project on a few blogs last year - and it really was a big favourite of mine. Seeing the pages come together over the months was a complete pleasure - so I will love seeing how yours progresses.

A Happy New Year to you and yours Jacky!

It's a lovely start Jacky! Can't wait to see how a month looks finished. I have learned one thing about myself - I do not have the drive or stamina to keep up with a crafty project that involves input every day! I can occasionally manage it for a week - but a month or a year? Not happening.

It's a fab idea - month at a glance! Good Luck with continuing throughout the year - it'll look absolutely splendid - already looking forward to Octobers page!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, enjoy your evening Jacky

What a beautiful start! Like Cheri, I've learned that I can't keep up with daily commitments. I'm not sure why, but after a few months, I just start to lose focus. I ran into that problem again this year with the Christmas Journal which I'll be blogging about in a few days.

It looks fabulous. I've seen the idea and fancied trying it, but like others have said I know that I'd never complete anything that needed daily additions.

Good for you, Jacky! I plan to try some new techniques this next year myself. I love the start for your project and I must say that even though you are venturing into something "different" your sweet style still shines through.

All the best to you in the upcoming new year! xo

Very nice Jacky! And I have to say that there were lots of projects on your blog this year that seemed very art journally to me - several of the Tim Holtz like things you did and some "altered" pieces as well. Although we have different styles, we definitely walk similar paths I think.
