By the time DD1 was 5 she was as tall as her [2 year older] brother.......at her 5 year medical check up a rather tactless nurse said "if she was any taller she'd be abnormally tall".......as if I could do anything about it!!
People frequently asked if the two of them were twins......which didn't impress DS very much....and they frequently seemed to doubt my answer of "no".
But by the age of 10.....she was actually taller than her brother.......and people assumed she was older......[though this might also have had something to do with her rather more mature behaviour].....and DS was VERY unimpressed.
Most amazingly people seemed unable to believe the answer that she was younger....
"are you sure?".........yes, I do remember which of my children was born first
"she is the oldest really, isn't she?" ........no, I do remember which of my children was born first
"you're joking, aren't you?".........no, my son wouldn't find that very amusing
"you must be mistaken"...........yeah right
This happened so many times it became very boring [not to mention annoying].
But......at 16.....over the course of just 6 months.....DS grew from a chubby 5' 2".........to a skinny 6' 2".......and hasn't changed much since.
Luckily his sister didn't follow suit.......and stopped at 5'10"........tall.......but not abnormally so.......and DD2 has made it to about the same height!!!
So.......I'm the only shorty left in this family [sigh]!!!!!!!

Loved reading your FAQ! Isn't it amazing how people sometimes don't believe our answers when they ask a question? Thanks for sharing.
Love your story and can see the logic behind people's questions but - DUH - of COURSE you are going to know which child came first!!!! As you know, you're not the only shorty!!!
i was always tall for my age too which was positive in that no-one asked if i was old enough to be in a pub but always told me to act my age when i was only ten!!!

Good story. People can be so tactless, can't they?
Great story (and I love that photo of your younger family). We are waiting here to see if The Small One becoames taller than me - meaning I'm then TSO of course!
Love the fact people questioned if you knew the order that your children were born! It must have really annoyed your son, but he has the last laugh now he is the tallest one!
What a fun post! It definitely made me chuckle! And love the family pix, too.

teehee! We had exactly the same problem, but luckily for us (and DD) she stopped growing before DS!! Now she is only taller than him when she has her high heels on!
A fun post - people can ask the most silly questions sometimes.
Why do people insist on asking such stupid questions? As if you'd get it wrong!! Isn't it amazing how children grow? x
Good grief - people can be dumb! And yes, tactless! Loved reading this post, Jacky - really interesting to get to know you a little better through it xx
Sometimes people need to 'engage brain before opening mouth' don't you think!! LOL
You have a beautiful family, thanks for sharing :)
Great little story Jacky, we had the same sort of thing here only with two brothers lol. The younger one is still mistaken for the older one and at the age of 28 is not too happy about it still lol.

Thankfully it all worked out properly in the end Jacky! But I can relate and get how annoying it was while you were going through the uneven growth spurts!
I am tall, and grew quickly when I was young. I am the oldest in my family so I didn't have tall questions but I get them with the kids now ... especially as they have cousins who are older but shorter - it gets ridiculous sometmes!
That is a fabulous family photo at the end Jacky :-)
Great story Jackie, it must have been so annoying for you all. People do ask some stupid questions.
Happy crafting

People always ask if my sister and I are really sisters...Uh...last time we asked mom she was claiming that.
I enjoyed reading your questions and answers. :)
As the shortest in our family since my daughter was about twelve, I am sympathising with you here! Lovely to read about and see your family.
Hey there Jacky...
Love this story! Hilarious!! I know of something similar! Myself and two friends all had our children in the same swimmming lesson class...my daughter, and two boys, Jacob and Samuel...for some reason the instructor kept calling Sam,'Sebatian'. When my friend had the opportunity during a conversation, she corrected her. The instructor looked puzzled, pointed to him and said "The blonde boy...Sebastian?"
No..It's Samuel.
Looked at clipboard..."Are your sure...I have Sebastian written here!"
We all looked at her in disbelief and then looked at each other. She went off still puzzled and we fell about laughing.
He has moved to a different pool now but we often enquire to our friend..How's Sebastain getting on?
People do ask some strange questions! Great post Jackey :)
LOL - really cute story, Jacky. And I love that family shot of you all. :o)
Loved reading your answer but I have to ask "Are you sure your son is the eldest?" Sorry just kidding with you.
How funny! Did people really ask those silly questions...as if you'd get something like that mixed up!!!! I love the 'sewing' theme card & must check out SJ's digi freebies!! TFS!!
