I Love my Recycled Bedroom

OH decided we would re-decorate our bedroom......or more exactly......decorate it......it hadn't been done since we moved here 3 years ago......and it did need doing!!!.....it was dire.....so dire........that I dare not show any 'before we started' photos.
But as it hadn't been planned.....and little 'spare' cash floating around.....it was done on a budget......or basically recycled!!
  1. The paint on the walls [which is actually pale cream] was left over from painting the hall.
  2. The woodwork paint was found in the shed....left by the previous owner!!
  3. The curtains were bought months ago for £10 in Roseby's closing down sale.
  4. The carpet.....hmmmm........that's a story to itself.......bought new when we decorated the lounge 2 1/2 years ago....laid 1 week before xmas......on Xmas Eve Stella [then a puppy] chewed a hole in the doorway while we were out [please note that she did live to tell the tale!].....insurance paid to replace it and offered to 'sell' us back the original for £15....we knew it would fit the bedroom......jumped at the chance.......so it's lived in the roof  since......and now graces the bedroom floor.
We bought 2 bargain rolls of wallpaper for one wall, undercoat for the woodwork and some carpet underlay.....total cost.....including 3. and 4. above.....under £100.
I still need to slightly adjust the new curtains.......and maybe add some applique flowers to them........but I absolutely love my recycled bedroom........though I have spotted a gorgeous co-ordinating rug in Argos......and some candles....and!!!!!!!!!!!
And, of course, I need to make some 'artwork' for the walls.
I'm now going to take a few days break from blogging.........enjoy yourselves.......catch up with you all later.

Looks fabulous - very retreat-like. I find "artwork" and accessories can be the hardest part of any remodel but also the most fun. Good luck on finding (or making) whatever embellishments you decide on for your room.

Wow! Its a triumph Jackie. Just goes to show what you can achieve doesn't it. I LOVE that wallpaper. If it wasn't already stuck to the wall I'd be racing over to recycle it on my own walls.... LOL

Hello there Jacky....Lots of oriental fans!!!
The wallpaper is lovely and it's even better when you know that you haven't spent ooodles of cash! I hardly ever buy anything full price these days...there are so many sales and bargains out there.
I love recycling things as well.
I recently changed my daughters bedroom curtains into blinds and pelmet...It took me two evenings and they look so much better. I'm looking forward to some crafting time now but I am loving being back at work and the job is going really well. Really love being paid now after all the volunteering and studying with the NVQ! Just not sure how long it will last. I have put my name down to do Inset days etc so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will keep me on after my contract expires...Hope you are enjoying the holiday and chat to you soon!

I love the colors you chose--so relaxing. You'd think you'd done it all deliberately instead of with what you had. It came together beautifully.
