Today was the day....

that the bedroom fan was on all night.....that you could feel the heaviness of the air......that it was actually hard to breathe......that the washing dried in less than 2 hours.....that the garden wilted......that opening the doors and windows just made the house hotter.....that our sun worshipping dog avoided the sun.....that ice cream and iced water was obligatory......that there was absolutely no respite....that the temperature hit 33 degrees celsius ......that I wondered why we don't have air conditioning at home [though the answer to that is obvious!!]

and I know that for some of you this is normal summer weather....but it sure ain't normal here [thank goodness]......and definately not during Wimbledon when rain is almost guaranteed.

Unfortunately we have a LOT of summer days that reach those numbers and when you add humidity, yes, it is pretty unbearable. This week we are only in the mid-80's which seems balmy by comparison! (around 30C)

Oh my goodness, that IS hot for you guys! Our high is *only* supposed to be 39c today (102) PLUS we have humidity because it might rain. It's miserable and I should be used to it by now. Stay cool!!!

We'll often get some hot, humid weather in the summer, but the last few days have been cooler than usual and very rainy. We held out on AC for years, but finally broke down and although it's not often on, when we need it, I'm very grateful.

Apart from the bit about your dog - sounds like we had the same sort of day mate!

Apparently, it MIGHT be a little fresher tomorrow - here's hoping!

Sleep well ..... if you can, I'll be in the fridge if anyone's looking for me!

I love your post title - this would make a great series :). We had only 29C up here, but I have to say I slept like a log (no aircon) and am loving the warmth :). Hoping that you feel more comfortable soon.

Oh,yes. It was so hot here I had to come inside I couldn't stick it. And I don't think that has ever happened before. Ever.

LOL - it's been in the 90s for a while over here now. I'm having to do the yard work early while it's still in the 80s. We won't see lower temperatures until September probably. But, of course, we have air conditioning everywhere!

Sounds like you had it bad (though nice to have some sunshine lol). Had the fan on here too.

I've never enjoyed the heat, but humidity makes it worse, I think. Hopefully cooler weather returns soon.

We had the highest temp of the week (in Wales) that day. My solution was visiting Dolaucothi mines. It was nice and cool underground! Hope the storms cleared the air for you :-)

We're pretty used to high temps and extreme humidity here in the south. I'm okay with it if I'm either floating in the pool or under some shade with a cool drink!
