A record of some of our decorations.....the same decorations come out year after year [though I have had a bit of a purge this year].....but they aren't always displayed in exactly the same way.
We have a Christmas Eve baking tradition in our family.....this year DD1 was at home from work and planned what we were going to bake......bear in mind DD1 does not bake......the last time she baked was as a child.......DD1 barely enters the kitchen at all.......unlike her brother and sister who enjoy cooking......she made peanut butter and chocolate mini cups....they were "a mission"......and she's not making them again......she wanted penguin semolina shortbread biscuits......we couldn't find a cutter.....so made a template from an internet picture......I made the biscuits......she iced them......everyone commented on how good they looked.....but it was "fiddly" and "a mission" and she's never doing it again....we made gingerbread iced christmas trees....these were apparently not "a mission".......and so may get made again.......especially as she ate most of them!!!
We also made chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes [you may be getting the idea that she likes peanut butter!!].....and chocolate truffles as well.....or should I say....I made those......she apparently had a lunch date!!

It's nice to have some "traditional" pages that don't change to much - you've got a tradition of recording traditions :) and you've inspired me to think about my gingerbread house page I've been planning but not actually making..
haha!! Don't you just love them Jacky!! I hope your daughter has recovered from her 'missions'. The penguins look really cute and it is good she gave baking a go. Even if 'never again'! I too love tradition, getting out decorations and unfolding all the memories from past years. I haven't started my journal yet but it is planned and photos taken.
Love that cute little penguin!
I like to showcase our decorations each year, too. I laughed out loud reading your description of DD1's baking "missions"!
brilliant pages and a great record of the funny baking memories from this year
Your DD1 sounds like my DD3! She doesn't cook or bake, but wants us to make what she wants! Looks like fun times for all of you.
I love the traditional, every year pages, in my Christmas Journals. Our December was so wild this year, I've just begun my pages and am anxious to get back at it once we finally get home next week. Those penguin cookies are the cutest! Now I'll be on the lookout for a penguin cookie cutter!
How funny! My daughter likes to bake , but has to be in the mood and the clearing/washing up is the "mission"!
I don't mind seeing my decorations year after year in my album, especially the ones I know will be meaningful and get passed down.
Love the penguins!

Those penguin biscuits are so very sweet! My DD only needs to have something happen once for it to be a tradition (if she likes it!). I'd love to change the decorations on our tree but - sigh, - it's a tradition that they stay thus forever more ...
