Christmas begins

I like my christmas journal to document all our christmas related activities each year.....and this means the album may start before December.......I don't number the pages....just date them.
This year I had 2 Christmas gatherings in November.....the first one was the W.I. committee's Christmas lunch.
We had a festive lunch at a local pub......an enjoyable afternoon with lots of chat and good food......that was slightly spoiled by the food being served on cold plates......turkey is best served hot,I think......the staff were very apologetic.......and didn't charge for any of our drinks as way of an apology.
I decided to use the menu as a backing paper......I thought it might be interesting to look back on the prices in years to come!!

You'll even enjoy flicking back through your album in a few months time :)

Using the menu is a great idea. I think that is a really nice touch for your future family. I can just imagine 50 years from now---"can you believe that Cokes were only $3.00 (or pounds)?"

I love the use of the menu as a background. That's really cool that you got your drinks for free. I think I'd trade cold turkey for that any day. ;o)

I wrote more about the last weekend in November than the first day of December for my first entry.

Fab start to your Christmas journal, what a shame about the cold turkey (!?!) but a nice gesture with the free drinks. Your layout looks great

I am sure that menu will be such an interesting addition to your album and be of great interest in the future - and its colours are great with your photos!

a great addition to the page and I agree you should always warm the plates.

What a great plan to use the menu - I wonder what the prices would have been like even 25 years ago, say? I was watching the programme about Mary Berry's life last night and it had lots of pictures of old cookery article on it: great stuff to hold onto

I like the idea of beginning your Christmas journal before December if something "Christmassy" occurs and you want to record it ~ makes sense.
Good idea to use the menu.

Great start to your album - I like that you used the menu as I, too, think looking back in a few years on the prices and items will be interesting.
