One Little Word

I'm joining in with Ali Edwards 'One Little Word' to focus on again this year......and when thinking about how I did with last year's word.....which was 'do' [as in 'do it'....not just think about it]......this year's word just jumped out and bit me!!!!
So this year's word is FINISH......as in 'finish what you started'......and not actually doing that pretty much sums me up!!!!!
I start lots of things......and don't finish far too many of them.....and OH is very good at this as well......so we're a right pair of 'unfinishers'!!
So this is the year I'm going to try and finish what I start......and finish some of the things already started!!
We started making a veg patch 2 years ago......this year we're going to finish it.....and start using it......instead of planting all our veg in pots.
We started sorting out our roof space last year.....this year we're going to really purge and finish sorting it......before the ceilings collapse.
I took Shimelle's 'Cover to Cover' course last year and started trying to organise my scrapbooking....this year I'm going to try to properly finish sorting and organising pages and albums.
I started trying to be more healthy last year....eating better....exercising more....losing weight.....I did manage to have a more healthy lifestyle.....but it was very up and down.....and this year I want to try to finish losing the weight that I need to......and make that healthy lifestyle permanent [after I've finished eating all the christmas chocs and cheese,of course!!].
I have a lot of unfinished creative projects......and this year I'm going to try to finish all the ones hanging around feeling very neglected.
I'm going to try very hard not to buy new stash until I finish using what I've already got [feel free to laugh at that one!!].
Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be all 'finished' out!!!!!

Awesome choice Jacky - a word I'm sure so many of us could relate to. I don't specifically have "finish" as my word, but it IS definitely on my radar for this year!

Great choice Jacky. I think this will strike a chord with many of your readers. Funnily enough I've pulled out some fabric today, that I've been collecting with a project in mind. Hoping to finish that this year!

Oh my, I do relate to this one which was my word two years ago. Sad to say, it's still a problem, but the year I chose it I finished several big projects that had been laying around for years. I did really well for about six months, but in retrospect, a pretty good year. I could choose Finish for several years, and maybe I'd finally get it done. Good luck with it. I love the way you've written about your choice. Perhaps DO (my word this year) will encourage me to finish some of my projects as well.

I probably miss out on a lot of projects because I don't start them. I am one of those people who won't start a project until the one I'm working on is finished. Perhaps my word should be START?

Oh I do like this one too. I had decided thatI definitely was something I was not going to do as it would last a month and that would be it. But today when driving home from York the word balance leapt out at me so I may yet give it a go. Can't wait to see all the things you finish :0)

Dear Jacky, we are truly 2 peas in a pod. It is one of the things I like least about myself, that and the fact I can be quite lazy which of course leads into not finishing things @@ Good luck!!!

I can so identify!! I too have sworn to resist buying new stash until I've made a BIG dent in what I already have (I discovered Crafty Steals in 2012 & found their deals VERY hard to resist!!) I look forward to hearing all your 'finishing' successes as the year goes on!! :D

Good Luck with your word Jacky...I'm getting to the stage that I'm scared to start anything for fear of not finishing!

What a great word! I am going to make a list of the online classes I have and resolve to finish them this year.

A nice choice of word. I liked the little pictures you put with it! I often have a job of finishing craft projects and then lose interest and never want to finish them!

Good choice of word.

Cheering you on here, right over the finishing line and beyond! You sound really determined ... and I love both your little witty word drawing and the cartoon too. I can think of a few people who'd appreciate them!

Great word! I haven't really set any goals this year except to work on healthy living - eating well, exercising regularly, & becoming more active. But I'm also planning to re-work & finish many of the classes I've taken in the past couple of year.

Oh help - my list of unfinished projects is waaaay too long! Good choice.

We are kindred spirits. My word is FINISH too. I am glad I am not the only one. Good luck!

Just catching up a bit over here, Jacky, and seeing that your word for 2013 is something I could really wrap my head around too! If I finished all the projects I have started there would be enough to keep me busy all year!

Jacky, I had to smile when I read this post. I think your OLW is a great word and without even reading this post I had earlier this week finally decided on my OLW - Finish. What's that saying - "Great minds think alike". Good luck in finishing up some of those things you've mentioned - somehow I don't the stash one will work though. :)

I love your word for 2013 Jacky. I often get distracted by a shiny new idea instead of finishing something that I'm halfway through! Good luck to accomplishing your list! x
