A great day out

Yesterday I went with 3 friends to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace. We decided to go and pay it a visit because we all do a bit of knitting and stitching.......it isn't only a 'purchasing' show......but is full of artists exhibiting as well......and we thought it would be fun and inspirational........and was that a great decision.......because we loved it and had a wonderful day......even if our feet didn't!!!!!
I couldn't take many photos as most exhibitors had big 'no photos' signs up.....but here are a few of my favourites that did allow photos.
Made by university graduates.......I love the wedding outfits.......but I can't see many grooms agreeing to wear a knitted suit!!
The sweaters were great fun.
 Some amazing knitted wall art.
Loved these funky stools.
A knitted village competition.
The fire station complete with fire engines and firemen was my favourite part.
And if you think you have too many unfinished projects........you should have visited this tent.......called 'The Unfinishable'........ it was full of unfinished projects sent in by hundreds of crafters.......I didn't feel so bad after a visit here!!!!
And as there were dozens of exhibitors selling as well.....it would have been rude not to wander round their stands........so I did manage to have a few items come home with me.
But not nearly as much as when I go to a papercraft show [which is a good thing].........a quilters rule [to replace a broken one]..........some red and blue cotton wool [does that make sense?] to knit a beach bag........2 bags of wool felt offcuts and felt glue........some felted wool [my friend S is going to show me how to needle felt].......and some fabric to make a christmas stocking
I would love to have bought more of the beautiful wools they had there.....but they were EXPENSIVE beautiful wools.....so there they had to stay!
But I'd definately recommend this show to any knitter or stitcher........inspirational and fun.

Looks like a wonderful day ... they should have given you all thick comfy knitted socks to make the walking around easier! Love the unfinished tent (and the finished village). Great ideas.

I think I would have loved the knitted Fire Station too - takes me back to all those wonderful Jane Greenhowe patterns I used to hoard.

It looks like a lot of fun..maybe I'll be volunteering something for the unfinished projects section next year

Wow, that does sound fun :) I hope the scarf I'm working on doesn't end up being an unfinished project!!

I would love to have seen that exhibit with the wedding outfits. Somehow I don't think my sock knitting falls quite into the category of high fashion!

Looks like a great day out! Maybe I should offer my unfinished Patricia Roberts sweater to them next time...started it in 1989!!! Love seeing you selection of purchases & am keen to see what you do with the felted wool too! :D

Your pictures from the show look great, no wonder you enjoyed the day. Can't wait to see your felting.

Looks fabulous Jacky, I've only ever been to 1 show (a craft one at Alexander Palace) - far too tempting for someone on a budget like me! xxx

I love the man's wedding suit but like you can't imagine who would wear it. The Unfinished Project certainly gives up lots of company :)
