Yesterday was our annual Pirates Day.......and the pirates were out in force.......over 14,000 of them invaded the town......14,231 of them to be exact.......and I know this because.......at 1pm Hastings smashed the world record for the number of pirates in one place......all of them on our beach!!!!!
DD1,her cousin V and Bigger A were there.....all of us sweltering on the beach while the official count went on......oh yes....the sun decided to join in with a vengeance yesterday.
DD1 was not still that colour by the end of the day.......just a touch more on the red side!!
Bigger A wished she'd worn a pirate dress......"it's dress weather" she said
Pirates everywhere
just hanging around
chatting on their mobile phones
singing on stage
banging drums
taking photos [no worries about street photography today,Rinda!!]
carrying parrots
just hanging around
chatting on their mobile phones

banging drums
taking photos [no worries about street photography today,Rinda!!]
carrying parrots
and,of course,flying the flag
We had a great day.....rounded off perfectly by a stunning aerial display by the Red Arrows.
Bring it on for next year!!!!

Sure does look like a lot of fun. Your beach must have been over crowded!
Brilliant! It must really be something to see, maybe some day..
Crikey you live in the best place Jacky. Love the photos and look at that weather, so jealous. We have had rain all night and all day today:(
Oh wow! What an amazing thing to be there on the beach. I hadn't heard of this tradition before.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and wondered if you were there. What fun x
What a hoot! I laughed out loud when I read the comment about pirates on their mobile phones. :) You've captured the spirit of all this so vividly.

Awesome shots, Jacky! I love those last three of the planes, especially. This would have been perfect for last summer's scavenger hunt. A pirate was one of the few I never got.
WOW - what a fun day - and perfect weather for it!
