The backstreets of Naples

I have to be honest and say that Naples is not my favourite city.......it's dirty with ancient buildings that are covered in graffiti and generally seem uncared for.......it's very expensive.......and tourists are always warned that it's the pickpocket capital of the world.
Often the best views are looking up.......I do love old windows and balconies.

But what is definately interesting are the amazing array of shops and stalls in the backstreets. In the UK there are 'second hand' shops everywhere......some businesses and some for charities......but Naples is the only place in Italy I've noticed them.......and people seemed to set up their own stalls everywhere......you could buy just about anything.

I've also never seen so many shops selling religious icons.....despite the fact they plaster the real thing with graffiti!!

Naples is certainly fascinating.....but I think......for me....one visit is enough.
