Tunis - on the roof

We only spent half a day in Tunis.......and probably certainly didn't see the best parts of it.....but the carpet shop was definately our favourite place......full of stunning hand made carpets and rugs at prices we could only dream of in the UK [and they were the only thing in Tunis that was cheap!!]......I was very tempted to buy a rug.....and probably should have.
We also spent time on the roof of the carpet shop......an amazing view of the city....more rugs to admire.....and the most wonderful mosaics......many of them broken and chipped......but still beautiful......decay sometimes is,I think.
I love these double sided papers that I bought at Ally Pally.......I wish I'd got more of them.......and the colours just seem perfect to reflect the colours and intense heat of Tunis.

Those colours are gorgeous & I'm sighing because I loved Tunisia the twice I holiday'd there in '80/'81! We stayed in Sousse & back then it was still unspoiled & quite primitive...but very beautiful...my sister & hubby did buy a very large rug which is still looking beautiful on their lounge carpet 31 years later !! :)

The colors are definitely gorgeous, and Tunis looks like a great vacation destination. Your comment about the rug reminds me of a watercolor I didn't buy many years ago, and still think of wistfully.

Oh my gosh - I was just having a quick scan through some of your recent posts that I'd missed, and these pics leapt out at me! We visited the same rooftop in Tunis!! I have a photo of The Girl (as she was then) stretched out on that same mosaiced bench having a rest!!
