Storytelling Sunday [or Monday?] - What fireworks?

I didn't have a story on Sunday........now I do!!!!
Most sources seem to agree that the fireworks set off in London on New Years Eve were possibly the most spectacular on the planet.....a quarter of a million people lined the Thames watching them.....even on the TV they looked amazing
How lucky then that DD2 had gone to London with friends to see in the New Year.
She arrived home today......tired and bleary eyed......but having had a great time.
"What did you think of the fireworks" I said
"What fireworks?" she said
"What fireworks!!!!! The ones in London, of course" I said
"I didn't see any fireworks" she said "I was in a club"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how funny but true to the spirit of young people, reveling in the fun they create for themselves, I hope she is catching a nap today

That gave me the best laugh of the day! I didn't see any fireworks either as we were at a friend's house. The ones on the news in Australia looked fantastic.

The little glimpse we got on the news made Sarah want to go back to London in the worst way....

Kids eh? I love fireworks personally - but then, I no longer have pets who are scared of them.

Hope your daughter enjoyed her club and you enjoyed your New Years Eve

Welcome to 2012

I didn't see them - we've never been tempted to fight through the 1/4 million others. Neighbours used to go and get home in the wee hours, talked about hours queuing and no loos etc. Somehow it just didn't tempt us.

I love your picture and it is the only way I can enjoy fireworks now that I have a terrified dog.
Your story is fabulous! and on any day of the week.
DD or DS what are they like?!

This is classic and probably one of those stories that will be told every New Year! They were fantastic fireworks so thank goodness for being able to see them on the News.
Have a Happy New Year.

I love this story, with the different priorities of youth :) - it reminded me of being in London for the Millennium with friends. We saw the lovely fireworks but do you remember the damp squib that was supposed to be some sort of ball of flame on the river? These looked much better - though on TV!

What a great story! It's one of those perfect moments that might just have been forgotten (maybe not though - it is funny!) if you hadn't recorded it.

Thanks for adding your story Jacky. The fireworks sound amazing - not sure how I didn't catch a glimpse on tv yesterday come to think of it!

LOL - brilliant! I would so love to see the London fireworks live, but I suspect that they might actually be easier to appreciate fully on TV - I watched the fireworks for the royal wedding (Charles & Di!!!) and while they were great - getting there and back was a nightmare!

Happy New Year ;o)
