Scrapping holiday pages using my colour palette kit

Following the 3rd prompt in the class I made up my paper kit here.....without choosing any photos.....pretty difficult for me. I wanted to start my holiday album......so kit in hand.....I started choosing photos from my holiday stack.
The album I'm using is 11 x 8.5.......a size I love for scrapping short holidays.......still lots of room for photos.....but much quicker to make than 12 x 12.
These are the first two pages made.
We found a small craft village.....where the artists were creating and selling in their studios....it was wonderful to watch them......and we bought a lovely spotted pottery vase.
During a shopping day at Bristol.....we had lunch at Bella Italia......a sort of belated birthday meal......and it was delicious.
This is definately the first time I've ever made pages entirely of patterned paper....no plain cardstock at all.......and probably the first time I've chosen the papers before the photos.......so am pleased with how this worked out.....despite my 'twitchiness' about it!!
Rinda has no problem at all with making pages this way......she frequently makes the whole page up before choosing the photos.....and has a great post on how she does it here.

well done Jacky! Like you I cannot imangine making pages first before deciding on photos. I was inspired by Rinda's article and now I am inspired by you as you have managed to do it thanks for sharing! xxx

Wow, your papers worked perfectly on both these layouts! I made my kit & scrapped a page yesterday - so different because I always choose my photos first too, then pull the colors from the photos. Great job on these pages!

It was a twitchy experience for me too, just preparing some paper pieces before choosing my photos! I don't think I could go as far as to make up the whole page in advance, though it has been interesting to get out of my comfort zone :) Your pages are lovely, Jacky - I haven't done much with this size but as you say it's a good size for a short holiday.

Hi Jacky, your pages are lovely. I've just made my paper selection and first page. Can't help wanting to add in a few more scraps as I go though. Anne

Lovely pages Jacky and looks like a fun holiday!! I'm struggling to get my head around the idea of choosing papers before photos but I'm going to give it a go! x

This is a really good way to scrap an entire album. By limiting your choices to that selection, there is more creativity. At least that is what I've found to be true for myself.

That worked well for you Jacky..I'm still twitching, as I've not attempted this yet...maybe I'll get the papers chosen tomorrow!

Hi Jacky,
Thanks for the shout-out. I love your pages and they are totally the kind you could have made up "naked" and added pictures afterwards.

It's certainly a tricky thing to get to grips with, if you've never tried it before. I do my December Daily this way and it's quite liberating.

I think you can really do this - those pages have such a perfect relaxed, holiday feel! And the size sees to suit so well too - it gives your pages a lovely intimacy

LOVE your los! I've only just chosen my papers so I'm set to chop them up and have a go! Thanks for the comment on my blog. x

Great pages Jacky :) I found it really liberating chosing the papers and chopping them up and then finding the photos to go onto them! May do quite a few more pages like this in the future.

You've done a wonderful job with this, Jacky! I think we'll be much more comfortable with this process by the time class ends.

I admire your courage in planning the pages before the photos! They have turned out really well ...

You were right about the colours working with these photos - these layouts look great, and not at all too similar for using the same 'kit'.

I think you've made a great start to your album with these pages Jacky. I'm afraid I couldn't do it - in fact I don't have much patterned paper in my stash at all! xx
