A little bit of Quilting

I used to sew far more than I do now.....I used to have a sewing machine that worked....I used to have a big stash of fabric.
Now I have a borrowed machine.....and hardly any fabric.......I don't have room with all my papercrafting stash!!
But sewing my christmas hearts.......and visiting this wonderful fabric store in Bexhill.......have made me want to sew more again.....I just need more hours in the day!!

So just before Christmas I dug out some of my remaining scraps of fabric.......and made a small patched, appliqued and machine embroidered wallhanging.....and then stupidly folded it up.......I've now found somewhere to hang it......but I think the creases may take awhile to come out!!
I think some more sewing may be on the agenda now........when I've finished my latest knitting, of course.

It's a gorgeous quilt, Jacky. I am also a quilter and I have so much fabric I'll never use it all. Also have four sewing machines--just in case one breaks down. In fact, I have so many hobbies it's a wonder I have time to clean my house. Which reminds me...the bathroom could use a bit of scrubbing right now!

Just a little something you ran up earlier, eh?! I can only echo what has already been said - you really can turn your hand to anything, with stunning results every time.

Adorable! It is funny how different crafts call to us at different times.

I used to do all of that. Then I found scrapbooking. I gave my library of quilting books to a local guild (whose library had burned down). I donated a TON of fabric to a charity that sews pillowcases for kids in the hospital. But I kept a shoe box of the best stuff. And I know the day will come...

Love the upper left sunflower block - is that applique?

Yep, Cheri...the sunflower is applique.

lovely lovely jacky. Very talented! I would love to get into quilting, it's just a bit daunting! This size looks managable though. Thanks for sharing

You should definitely get back into your sewing this is so gorgeous. I used to make quilts myself years ago when the kids where young. My Granny used to make them too, think my sister still has one of her quilts. She was a dressmaker and so had loads of scraps:)

I love the quilt Jacky - I hadn't realised you sewed as well! The shop link you put on your blog looks very interesting - I might have to take a trip there one day - I think Bexhill is only about an hour from us :o) xx

My first crafting hobby was sewing, and it's been a long time since I've indulged in it. I gave away all my quilting squares (and almost all my fabric) some years ago. I do love what you've created here. It definitely belongs on the wall!

Isn't that lovely? Making a quilt is on my list of 'I really must try that some time' - I love the idea of a smaller one that I can use as a wallhanging :-)
