Turkey and all the trimmings!!??

This is my post for Sian's Christmas Club.........the last one [sob]......read them all here.
We started a new tradition last christmas.......well......maybe we did.......what happens this week will tell!!
We usually have about 14 for christmas dinner........and a lot of time Christmas Day is spent preparing dinner.
Last year our local Carvery was offering a 3 course Christmas Eve carvery dinner of £7.99.......it seemed too good to miss........and we quickly booked up.
We had a lovely evening.......plenty of good food and drink....lots of chatting and laughing.....and a taxi home afterwards.
Followed by a very relaxed Christmas Day.....getting up late.....guests arriving at lunchtime.....opening presents.....playing games.....snacking on food you really shouldn't eat at any time of the year!!!!!

We decided to do it again this year.......18 of us are booked in.......BUT......we are now covered in frozen snow.......the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning........and our 'local' carvery is actually 10 miles away.....not exactly walking distance on a snowy Christmas Eve!!!
DD2 is already panicing........"what if we can't get there......we won't get a christmas dinner!!!"
OH assures her we will get there.
But whatever.....we won't starve....the freezer is full......I'll be baking all week......a large gammon was cooked today.....and potatoes bought....because christmas dinner......just wouldn't be christmas dinner without roast potatoes!!!!

Fingers crossed that you will all make it to your carvery and that it will be at least as good as last year and at least as much fun - ENJOY

sounds like a great idea! my mum has often said we should have xmas dinner one day and all the "fun" stuff on another (like boxing day) as it is just crazy busy for people!

That sounds like a brilliant tradition to me and I'm sure Christmas is then much more relaxed. Hope you manage to get there this year.
We also still have snow thick on the ground though once out of the side roads the main roads are pretty clear. It's just getting to them!

That sounds like a good plan, though I do actually like doing all the cooking myself.... I do hope you're all able to get there safely this year, Jacky xx
