Some Christmas decorating

Today was the first day of my christmas 'holiday'.....yaaaaaaaah.......the temperature is
-4.....the ground is covered in frozen snow........it seemed like a good idea to stay indoors in the warm........plan my christmas baking.......and catch up a bit on JYC.

Christmas needs a tree.......and we always put it up 2 weeks before christmas.......we used to always have a real one....we even planted a couple of them after christmas at our last house......but since we moved here 3 years ago.....we have an artificial one.
DD2 is in charge of the tree decorating.......apparently I do not have enough 'good taste'.....she is extremely strict about colour co-ordination.......this year it is green, red and gold only....and the box was quickly put away to stop me adding anything she deemed 'unsuitable'!! I was outnumbered as DD1 was in total agreement with her!!
But when it comes to the other decorations.........I am insistent........my collection of wooden and felt decorations collected [ or made] over the years are an 'essential'. They are set up around the home alongside my collection of christmas character candles [which are never burned, just added to each year]. I love them all.
More to come tomorrow.......and finally....the lovely Abi is hoping to host a 'creative Christmas' blog hop on Wednesday......if you're interested in joining in.......have a look here.

Jacky - I think I am soon to be where you are. Right now our tree is covered in Hallmark and other sentimental type ornaments collected over the years to commemorate a milestone, an interest, etc. Our tree really tells a story. But all my girls are talking about how "cheesy" our tree looks and how they would like a themed tree with just shiny balls. Sob.

Ah yes - surrogate daughter is a Christmas humbug about decorations she deems UNSUITABLE (ie which do not match) and even bans non matching presents to the other tree (her sons!). Your tree does look pretty though and I'm loving your "insisted on" dex too

Seasons Greetings to you and your readers

Our tree tells a story, too. 29 years worth of memories. We get a new ornament each year (lots of Hallmark).

Your pages are beautiful and I love those little trees.

I'm afraid I'm a bit like your daughter, I like our tree to be just red, green and gold and only white lights. It does mean our tree looks very similar every year - though we do change the ornaments from time to time ;-)
We have snow falling again as I type and I hate to think how deep it will be by morning! I see us walking into town again :) xx

If all the decorations on our tree had to match, I'm afraid the Tree Trimming police would lock me up. Over the years, I made a good number of our decorations and still add to them. I like my tree that way! Each one has a memory that makes me smile--even the broken one that fell when the cat climbed up inside the tree.

Our tree, when it is up, is always a mixture of old and new and handmade ornaments ... it looks a bit of a sight but it is fun and the kids love seeing their things on the tree :-)
