Christmas crafting with kids

One of the courses I'm tutoring this term is 'Get Ready for Christmas'..........a 5 week after school course for primary aged children [5-11 years] and their parents......each session lasts about 2 hours. It's fun, loud and very messy!!
It was booked up very quickly.......there's 20 odd children with their parents....and we have a waiting list.
We give the kids lots of inspiration......and support where needed.....but encourage them to 'do their own thing' and develop their own creativity........most do not need asking twice......and can't wait to get started each week.
This week our 'focus' was christmas cards......and these are some that they produced.

I just love children enjoying being messily creative........and interestingly.......their parents..... who are supposed to be working with them.......are just as likely to be totally engrossed in creating their own masterpieces!!

And some children.......decided against christmas cards altogether.......what a stunning piece of jewelry designed and made completely independantly by an 8 year old.

And I'm sure there will be some proud parents on the receiving end of these projects too. I remember gettign pretty messy at those sort of sessions in the run up to Christmas myself.

Great job! My class enrollment has been miserable recently. May take a break for a couple of months.

I love the self-confidence of children and their creativity. They dare to do things we would think twice about. Thanks for sharing the work with us.

Oh, wow! I love the idea of a class with kids and parents in it. How clever is that? Especially at Christmas time, it sounds lovely.

Those children (and their parents!) are so lucky to have you Jacky, those cards and the other creations are wonderful. What a sense of achievement they must feel - and you too!
