I needed photos exactly 8cms square.....I didn't know how to make them......every time I try and use Photoshop Elements.....I get in a muddle.....and very, very frustrated!!
Last week I stumbled across Kim Klassen's site....and signed up for her free 10 day basic Photoshop Elements course......and what was the first lesson........how to crop, resize and add text to pictures.......yaaaaaaaay.......but I learned far more than that.......Kim's videos and commentary are so well done....perfect for beginners.....and so I ended up with this......
The photos are cropped and sized exactly as I wanted them.........added a few pieces of decorative paper, chipboard letters and some embellishments.......just the journaling left to do......a quick, simple page.
Ok.....the first photo did take a while......but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th took seconds........I am so happy......thank you,Kim!!!
And a really good tip she gave was to save your pic as a psd file so that you can adjust it more if you want to......but also save as a jpg....so you can use immediately.......which I did......and you probably all already do that!!!!!
Now I need to learn how to print multiple photos on one sheet....without losing the original dimensions!!

Jackie, I'll write a quick tutorial for you on how to publish multiple photos on one page (the way I do it anyway!!) and then post it on my blog in case others need some help with that.
Wow that is just gorgeous Jacky. That course sounds really interesting and no I certainly didn't know to do that.

Well done Jacky, the layout is lovely and was well worth the effort you put in. xx
Thank you so much,Kate....I certainly need all the help I can get with PSE.

This is lovely Jackey, I really like the embellishments :)
Beautiful Jacky! 2011 is going to be the year of photoshop and post-processing for me. So I might be back to ask for class info. then.

Nice work, Jacky. Bet you'll be doing digital layouts soon!
Hooray, good for you! I'm still finding my way round PSE but I'm thrilled that it can do so much - such as help you to produce gorgeous layouts like this xx
Well done Jacky - there are a lot of free tutorials out there to help with pse and ps but the best money I ever spent to help get me started - and like Shimelle forever access - were the classes over at Jessica Sprague. It is a steep learning curve and takes a while to feel comfortable with all of the terminology, but once you get the hang of the basics there will be no turning back!
Another fab project from you Jacky and well done on working out how to resize to an exact measurement.

Now this is totally gorgeous Jacky, I love it and what a wonderful layout capturing those special moments.
Happy crafting

I think it is so much fun to learn these new techniques. I'm really enjoying Kim's class too. I knew a bit about blending modes, but never thought of applying them to text on a photo. Wow! I've got a lot to try out this weekend.
beautiful page Jacky! What a sweet baby! xxxx
Such a CUTE layout!!! PhotoShop is tricky, but it can be very addictive when you start getting the hang of it. Enjoy, Jacky!!! xo
Lovely Jacky, I love the 'snuggle 'photo - I get frustrated with Photoshop too - Kim's class sounds perfect
I love LOs that are designed on a grid like this one of yours - those photos, plus the papers and matching embellishments are perfect!
Great that you've found PS course that you like, I'm sure you'll love all the things you learn how to do! (Email me anytime if you need PS tips, always happy to help :) x)
Gorgeous...well done you & thanks for the link!!
Sorry I'm coming a bit late to this pretty, pretty page (sore head kept me off the computer all day yesterday) - you know my photoshop skills are nil so I am well impressed with the class you have found and what you have picked up already. Great job!
Beautiful LO but what else would it be with such a cutie
what a gorgeous layout! every detail is just the sweetest!
