We have a Banksy!!!!!!

Hastings + St Leonards has been visited by the infamous Banksy!!!!
The 'graffiti' appeared in the last 2 weeks.......what was he doing here??....maybe he just decided on a day trip to the seaside.
But how brilliant is this......painted on the side of a set of steps leading to the beach.
Councillor Jay Kramer, deputy leader of Hastings Council, said: "I think this is great! I know that we have a zero tolerance policy on graffiti, and that is absolutely right. However, we have to be flexible so on this occasion I have agreed that Banksy can be an exception to our rule, and can stay. Hastings has a reputation for its art, its edginess, and for being a bit bohemian. We have some great home-grown talent here in Hastings, and it's fantastic that an artist like Banksy, with his international reputation, has recognised that Hastings is worth visiting. And how appropriate that it has appeared at the start of our Coastal Currents Arts Festival."
Yay to that.

Very cool .... disgracelfully some overzealous street cleaners unwittingly 'cleaned' our Banksy recently. Melbourne City Council is openly trying to get him to visit!

Wow! You are SO lucky. Very witty work too isn't it. I wish he would do my house and yes I really DO mean that. How great. Lx

I hope there will be a 24 hour guard on this to make sure some over zealous council worker doesn't clean THIS one off too.

Well I have never heard of Banksy before, but I like the art and the idea of leaving it there. :o) I'm always amazed when I see some forms of graffiti and admire the talent that some of these artists have. On our recent trip for my grandmother's birthday party we saw so many train cars with amazing artwork painted on the sides. Too bad that the talent is used to deface property rather than an appropriate canvas!

Oh I saw this on the news.. how exciting! Went to Hastings a few weeks ago, we had a lovely time - the old part of the town and the black fishermens' huts were fascinating. The boys loved the Blue Reef aquarium and the funicular railway. :)
