The birthplace of Napoleon

Our final port of call before returning to Palma for our flight home.......Ajaccio,Corsica.......the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte........a charming little city......full of palm trees and pretty squares.....with a real 'Riviera' feel to it.

We took the 'tourist train' for a visit round the city's highlights.....with only half a day here......we'd have never managed to walk it all in the time.

As expected.....a lot of Napoleon related attractions......but sadly the museum was not open.
He's obviously considered a hero, not a villian, here!!

More fascinating little shopping streets.....plenty of 'foodie' shops here.......where we bought delicious French conserves.....and a wander through the delightful port area.......full of little cafes.......the occasional statue.......and lots of yachts to ogle........back to the ship....for the start of our journey home "sigh"

I agree with Kathy! Your photos have brought back many happy memories for me and it's been lovely to see how much you've enjoyed your trip too. Such a shame that Ocean Village is leaving.

The blue sky and water is just divine Jacky!
We have big ships like yours come into Melbourne, it is funny to see pictures like the last two and actually imagine people on them - they always seem so removed in dock!
