The Birthplace of Christopher Columbus

With my history lessons being so far in the distant past.......I had forgotten.......that Genoa was the birthplace of Christopher Columbus.
Today it's a bustling little port.....with buildings 'climbing' up it's steep hills.....and the largest aquarium in Europe.
I don't think this galleon's going on any voyages of discovery though.
We took a trip round the city on the 'tourist' bus.......and then wandered through some of the old streets.
And while Rome had been baking hot....Genoa, with it's narrow streets and tall old buildings.......was shaded....and so much cooler.
And finally.......a photo that should have come earlier....taken on the first evening....OH and D......starting as they meant to go on!!

Hi Jacky ~ Just catching up over here after being out of town for a while myself. Your vacation photos are wonderful! I've visited Italy myself and loved it! Seeing your photos makes me want to go back. :o)

Love the art piece you did for your bedroom wall! I am inspired...

And thanks so much for your sweet comment left on my blog for my grandma's birthday. xo

Well they do say you should take plenty of fluids when you are out in the heat and it seems like your menfolk took the advice seriously! Great photos.

More great photos! I like the one taken from the deck perspective and I'm hoping you have a few more of the boat itself.

Wow, looks like you really enjoyed your break - smashing piccies to remember it by too. Imagine we'll see them in a scrap project sometime very soon.

Love the beer photo!!! I think you could pair it with the face/architectual detail photo for a really fun layout.

Genoa looks a bit more relaxed than Rome did. Don't think I've ever seen beers that large!

Looks like a very interesting city and I'm sure the respite from the heat was very welcome!

The boys look set for their trip ;-)

Genoa was one of my favourite stops, but maybe that's because it was my birthday?! The aquarium was wonderful, and the cathedral was lovely too. Did you see Columbus' house? It's tiny! xx
