We have a part of our garden we want to turn into a veg patch.....the only part suitable.....only it wasn't suitable because it had an enormous tree growing in it.......not to mention all the rubbish.......I like trees......but this one was too big.......too prickly......too in the wrong place......we do have lots of trees......we have even planted 3 new fruit trees this year.......so this one had to go!
The tree [seen on the left] overshadowed the whole of the bottom half of the garden when in
leaf.
So the man with the chainsaw got to work.
The branches soon started piling up..........at one point the garden seemed to be disappearing under them..........but every part of this tree has been recycled........the trunk and branches have been chopped up for next winter's firewood......and everything else has been shredded.......and is now a mulch on the garden.......so even in death,it lives on.
Now we just need to turn the area into the veg patch!!!!!!!!!

What a great accomplishment! We have one to two trees we really need to remove.

As someone who has just watched the builders chain-saw eight trees to pieces in her garden, you have my sympathy and glad that it has all been put to good use. Looking forward to watching the veg patch develop!
It's amazing just how big a tree is when you see it laid out on your garden rather than growing upwards towards the sky!

Oh My - busy time at your place then. Great idea to grow your own AND to recycle as much (or should I say "as MULCH"!) of the tree as possible. Bet your garden looks bigger too. Look forward to seeing the green shoots of your veggie patch - whatcha planting then?

Sometimes these things just have to be done & think of all that lovely fresh produce you'll enjoy...& as you say the tree is still serving a purpose! well done on making such progress.

Wow.. that was a big tree.. and what a huge garden you have! Good luck with the veggie plot.. we had some feral parsnips in our overgrown veg plot til this morning when the boys pulled 'em up to check how big they were (they were tiny!).
