Classes

My 'real' camera class has finished......I've really enjoyed it......and learned a lot......I now don't always use auto.........and am trying other modes........especially macro, portrait and landscape.
The class also [unexpectedly] included photo editing.......and I'm loving that!
So what now??........well I've signed up for the free Creativity Boot Camp.........a '2 week intensive course designed to take your creativity to the next level'......from June 6th- 18th......sounds great.......I just need to decide which medium I want to develop most........I had thought scrapbooking or altered art........rather than cardmaking......but I could use it to develop my cardmaking more.......I hate these kinds of decisions!!!
But now I've had 2 emails pop into my box.......one from Get It Scrapped advertising Dina Wakley's Art Journaling class......a bit expensive......but I love the art journaling I see on other crafters blogs......would love to have a go.....but don't know if it is just too far out of my comfort zone for an online class!!

The other class is at Big Picture Scrapbooking.......a month long Camp Scrap with May Flaum....loads of scrapbooking inspiration........sounds right up my street........and a lot cheaper.
So any suggestions gratefully received!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not going to be much help because I did Dina's first ever Art Journalling course and I think she is brilliant AND I saw that Camp scrap and thought it looked like a lot of fun. Dina is really inspirational :)

I think I'd give a nod to Camp Scrap because I don't think that Dina's class is "live." I think that it's archived, and, while Dina is great about checking the boards and commenting, it is always more fun to do a class (especially about a new technique) "live."
I'm doing boot camp.

Jacky, take the Art Journaling course. It really can take your scrapping to a new level. I took the digital class with Pattie Knox and learned a lot more than I thought I would. It gives an extra punch to my layouts that are not necessarily artsy. I don't think I'm cut out for art journaling but what I learned can be combined with my regular digital work.

I am glad you think my class looks like fun - I sure am enjoying putting it all together! :) If you have any questions for me - please feel free to e-mail me any time.

Honestly? I don't think you can go wrong! I love Dina (in fact, she's a celeb guest in my class!) - she'd be great to learn from.

Decisions, decisions! Sorry no help here but would like to say glad you enjoyed your photography class and if you took the photo of the bleeding heart, it looks real professional.
Good luck with your choices.
Happy crafting

I too looked at Dina's classes and they look awesome. But besides pricey, they are also "self-paced" which I have learned from experience that I don't do as well with. I need the class structure to keep going. good luck with your decision!

Hi Jacky,

I signed up for Dina's AJ101 course ages ago.. and have totally failed to keep up with it, both in archived and live format! I LOVE Dina's art journaling and scrapbooking style but I found the techniques difficult to master and the diary-keeping aspect quite a chore. However, I don't think I went at it with enough determination as I was trying to do it alongside other classes each time.. NOT helpful! I like to think I'll give it another go one day though!

Hope that helps a tiny bit.. just my opinion :o) I'm sure you'll get lots out of whichever you choose.

I've signed up for Boot Camp, too and can't decide what medium to choose either. I thought I'd wait until the first prompt and maybe that would help me decide. As much as I love Rinda's art journaling, I know it's "not me." Check out May Flaum's blog and see what you think about her style. I've discovered that I enjoy classes most when the instructor's style more closely matches mine. Thus Cathy Z's class at Big Picture Scrapbooking was one of my all-time favorites. I kept up despite a pretty heavy workload and the album I finished is one of my favorites. In other classes I had a hard time finding my groove when the instructor's style was very different than mine. That might not bother anyone else, though.

I'm hoping to do Boot Camp as well, although am undecided as to medium and wondering if I can get away with a combination!
