Photography Class

I started my FREE photography class last week........I don't know how much my photography will improve, but I'm loving it..........and realize a 'real' class is much better for me than an online class........a teacher explaining and showing me how to do things.........lots of handouts......immediate,personal feedback on what I'm doing.......fellow students to chat to ........to look at their photos and cameras.......and laugh together.
Last week we spent in the classroom........trying out our macro modes.......something new to me.......I was amazed [as was the tutor!!!] at just how well my little 'point and shoot' did with macro....as the photos with and without it show.
Today we were out in the park trying out landscape and portrait mode....as well as some more macro.......and I finally feel I'm using my camera's various modes and not always sticking to automatic.
And the icing on the cake is......we spend part of each session at the computer learning about photo editing.......today we were playing with 'colour levels' and I couldn't believe how changing the levels could bring a photo alive.....we were using a free progamme called 'GIMP' that can be downloaded from the net.
And I think this is my favourite photo so far........ taken in my garden this week.......and it's had no editing!!

That yellow flower looks wonderful.

A photography course is something I've been wanting do for a while now. I keep looking at the ones at the adult college but am very unsure what I can do with a digi camera.

Fab pic Jacky, can't tell you how jealous I am, wish I'd known there was a course I could go on, and a local one at that - pity I've missed the start. Can you send me the details I'll see if I can get on the next one, I really must learn how to take decent pics.

Gosh, these are turning out so well Jacky! Love the yellow flower :-) Editing is the saving grace for all photos ... and so time consuming!
