Learn Something New Every Day-on holiday

Seems like forever since I've blogged.....how come you get back from holiday needing another one to recover......though it has to be said I've never walked up and down so many hills in my life.....as my knees still keep telling me......and the last week has been a rush of.......clearing up holiday debris....preparing new courses....starting to tutor them......and getting lots of little jobs done with OH while he's still on holiday.....though he doesn't call it that!!
Rather foolishly......seeing as September was gonna be so manic..... I signed up for Shimelle's 'Learn Something New Every Day' online class.....as yet haven't managed a single page.....BUT did make notes while on my hols.......so here are some of the things I think I learned on holiday....and hopefully soon may actually get some pages made.

Day 0.......I learned......that however much you get ready in advance there's always a last minute panic......have we got everything??

Day 1......I learned.......that going from Sussex to Cornwall along smaller picturesque roads,passing Stonehenge on route,makes it a veeeery long journey. Day 2.....I learned......that sitting eating,drinking and relaxing with friends in a very old English pub is truly one of life's pleasures.

Day 3......I learned......that waking up in the morning in the middle of a Cornish nowhere and looking out of your window to see nothing but fields,trees,a pond and horses gazing back at you is as good as any outlook in the world.

Day 4........I learned.......that I really must be getting old!!....as travelling on a steam train brought back a lot of nostalgic childhood memories.....laying in bed as a small child....listening to the trains steam in and out of the station at the bottom of our road.

Day 5.....I learned......that being a real tourist......having a ride on one of those ridiculous land train town tours is actually quite a lot of fun......and a good way of seeing a town....and I promise not to laugh anymore when I see people doing it in my own town!!

Day 6 .....I learned........that walking down the steep,uneven streets of a Cornish village wearing toe post sandals......is a really stupid,uncomfortable idea!!!......not to mention probably dangerous....and this photo gives no idea of just how steep the hills in Fowey are.

Day 7.....I learned.......that the Eden Project truly is a marvel of the modern world......totally amazing.....and I'm ashamed to admit that one of the many things I learned while there was that coca cola is made from the cola tree...yes,there actually is one......and it's not just chemical crap as I'd thought!!!

And hopefully over the next few days may actually get some crafting done.....hope everyone else who's been on holiday this summer has had as good a time as us......the sun even came out in Cornwall....and apparently it hasn't done that much this summer.
