We stayed in a lovely hotel on Portland island overlooking the English Channel[Scavenger Hunt no.20] ....which had a roof terrace to sit and enjoy the view.
I had no idea that the 'Jurassic Coast' of Dorset was a World Heritage site......World Heritage status was achieved because the Jurassic Coast provides a unique insight into Earth Sciences. It shows a geological ‘walk through time’ spanning the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
So dinosaurs abound.......bones and fossils in plenty at the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester.
and some real....and 'not so real' ones at the Dinosaur Museum.
a trip round the very cute....and fascinating....... Teddy Bear Museum....getting re-acquainted with Rupert, Sooty, Paddington,Pooh and more.....we also visited the Tutankhamen Exhibition......and the Chinese Terracotta Warriors Museum....but no photos allowed in them.
immersed in a lot of Thomas Hardy......at the museum....
and at the cottage that he was born in....a quintessential English cottage
a visit to Bournemouth beach.......coming across the 'wedding on the beach' tent [Scavenger Hunt no.9] while a wedding was actually in progress.
a carousel by the beach [Scavenger Hunt no.13]
amazing views across Portland Bay......where the 2012 Olympic sailing took place [Scavenger Hunt no.16] towards Weymouth...on our way back to the hotel after watching Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation.....enjoyed the film.....but why does Hollywood always insist on making Brits either villians or idiots???
a half day visit to Beaulieu Motor Museum.so much to do and see there
vintage cars of every shape and size
we went on a vintage bus trip
and I felt extremely brave going on the monorail
our journey home was slightly slowed down by the New Forest ponies who appeared to be playing catch with the cars in the road.
a good few days break

It's such a lovely part of England isn't it? I have happy memories of having holidays there when the children were young. Great scavenger pictures!
So much to see and do and it looks like you made the most of it. I love my home county :-)
What a lovely break you had. It's really made me want to visit ... Loving all the exhibitions.
Plus, I so agree with you about films making us look like idiots, it annoys me so much x
Lovely pictures..with every one I was thinking ooh, I'd like to see that, I'd like to see that..
It's such fun to read and see photos of places you know nothing about. Like Sian, I kept thinking I'd really enjoy seeing that!
What a lovely trip!! You certainly managed to do a lot! Your pictures are beautiful. I have a new fondness for thatched roofs due to my own recent trip to England.
Looks like a lovely trip! I've been to Devon and Cornwall, but never on round the coast. Best cream teas EVER in Devon ;)
Beautiful photos Jacky - and I would love to go to the teddy museum x
Oh, it looks like a fabulous get-away!! Plus great captures for this year's hunt!
Looks great. We have a close friend who lives in Lyme Regis - go to visit her quite often, and my parents used to live in Boldre, in the New Forest.....
