Scavenger Hunt underway -a pier

The first photo on the Scavenger Hunt list......and probably the easiest for me......a pier......though a very sad looking pier we have.......blackened and derelict after an arson attack 2 years ago.
There is some controversy in our town about whether we should have it demolished.......or try to rebuild it.
I think it would be rather sad to destroy this Victorian pier.....and there is some hope......the Heritage lottery fund may be prepared to fund a rebuild.....and plans are being drawn up at the moment.

My first and only photo so far is a pier. It brings some sadness too, it's a rather new, extremely well done rebuild of a former famous bridge on our coast. It is now constructed of concrete!

Great shot for your first scavenger hunt photo. It's nice that you have this photo so once the restoration or demolition is complete, you'll have this preserved as how it looked in 2012.

It would be such a shame if they did demolish this pier, fingers crossed they get funding to restore it to something special :)

I think Melissa makes a good point. The photo also has a very haunting quality to it. Really nice.

How handy that you live so close to a pier .... and what a shame that senseless vandalism has left it in this state - great layout btw

Good luck with the rest of the "scavenge"

A sad but effective photograph as it stands today. Let's hope funds are provided to rebuild it. We will lose these architectural buildings otherwise and they have given a lot of pleasure to a lot of people over the years.
It's a lovely idea to place your 'hunt' photographs in an album. Irene

I hope they do not demolish it, it would be such a shame. Hopefully they find the money to keep it afloat :)

Well, it's good for you that it's not torn down yet so you could use it as a scavenger hunt photo! ;o)

I love that you are doing a mini-book for your photos again this year! I'll look forward to seeing it as it fills up.

Now...where am I going to find a pier...

Crikey I have missed so many post Jackie. Loving your album, your photos are always so explicit. I had a laugh at the layout with your grand daughter and her big doll. I remember my daughter getting one when she was even smaller than that and the doll looked enormous lol.

It would be such a shame to destroy that beautiful pier. I haven't found one yet but I am looking.

I love the link with our history, they can't get rid of it!

I must be local to you then Jacky! Hastings is not too far away!

Poor Pier. They should put it out of its misery!

Great idea to make a mini book to put all the scavenger hunt photos in Jacky. Love your pier shot.

Great photo for your first find. I'm hoping for a rebuild. It clearly was a lovely pier at one time.
