Talking male cards

I don't know about any of you who make cards......but I always find 'male' cards difficult.......probably because my cards tend to be 'cute' or 'vintage style'.......so not exactly very 'man friendly'.......luckily I don't have many to make.....and if you're my DS you prefer a shop bought 'funny' card anyway!!!
But I do prefer making them when possible......and I do have friends who ask me to make them.......so when I saw this new release from Wild Rose Studies.......I sort of thought "yay....that could be useful"
I kind of liked the 'sauve' James Bond feel.......with the amusing twist.....not too cute.....with a good selection of papers......so here's the first card made......and just in time for Fathers Day........and a few Blogland challenges for said day......Cards for Men.......One Stop Craft......Fab'n'Funky
Anyone got any tips on making male cards?????

Loving your 007 - licensed to drill!!!! card.

I always try to keep it simple and just use plain or striped papers - yours fits the bill perfectly though Jacky

Male cards are always difficult! I love that DIY stamp though it would be perfect for my other half - he's always working in the house with some tool or other!

I am so the same!! I tend to make cute cards and even the guy ones have cute images on them. I will have to get this stamp and those papers are lush! I think the wild rose studio do great male images. I have the one with the guy at the bar with a beer belly. Perfect for many men! lol
I Wish I had this before father's day now but have run out of money! My dad will have to get another LOTV image! lol

I usually just stick to dark colors for the men cards. I try to keep them simple with just a bit of stamping.

I think you found it! Your card definitely fits your style and is masculine. Mostly I stick to neutral colors and images that reflect the recipient. I've got a few stamps sets I go to: trees, bikes, autos . . . that seem to fit the guy category.

I have the most trouble settling on an image for male cards, as opposed to colors.

Love that stamp!!

Well - I think you did a fantastic job here! I find the male cards difficult, but typically I stick with a masculine color scheme and use punches with simple shapes like circles, squares or stars! I don't use stamps, quite frankly because I find most of them hokey :) Then I always add some sort of greeting.
