Creative Colour Day 2 - heart canvas

Our inspiration on Day 2 of the Creative Colour course was to come from the internet......Google images in fact.......I'd never thought of just typing in colour combinations to see what came up......but I certainly will in future.
We googled colours of our choice......and saved images we liked to a folder......purely as colour inspiration.......my choices were olive, brown and cream......as I wanted to make a canvas for my bedroom........and these were the colour inspirations I found [mainly wallpaper].
I used a 10 x 10 canvas.......painted,stamped and distressed........rolled up dictionary paper to make the heart......inspired by a project on Christy's blog some time ago.....and the background is far more creamy than it looks in the photo.
But I'm not nearly as happy with this canvas as I was for the first one I made for the class........but not quite sure why........so any comments would be gratefully received.

Jacky, as with your previous canvas, I really like the colours! I am by no means the right person to ask for advice in matters regarding this type of creative persuit ... perhaps the single larger element and its placement is what doesn't feel right to you? Sometimes smaller elements are easier to balance than one larger one ... anyways, I think you have done a great job and the detail is fantastic if you ask me!

Jacky,
I love it! I especially love the texture on the heart. I also prefer your first canvas, but I think it's because the first one was soooo amazing. In any event, for this one, Imight think about removing some of the smaller elements around the outside of the canvas, like the heart with words in the upper left hand corner and the element in the lower right. They seem to compete a little bit with the heart. But, again, I really like it.

Amy...I think you're right about one large element being more difficult to place.

I'm not the person to ask either, but I do love the texture and the "look" very much

Jacky, This is very cool :) I was thinking along the lines of Maria. I would like the heart and angel to be the only 3D elements. It has never crossed my mind to google colors, thanks for the tip.

I'm certainly not the right one to ask, as I think it's amazing, but I've really been interested in the advice you're getting.

I like your use of the rolled paper, I have not tried that yet, but hope to soon. I actually like the composition of it. I wonder if it is the paper below that is competing with the added bits and larger heart, perhaps a bit more paintÉ, otherwise I think it looks great!

I love it myself - scrunching up the dictionary paper is such a wonderful idea! Some of my favourite colours here too.

Looking at your color inspiration Jacky, I think maybe what you are missing is the brown. Like others suggested, maybe removing the border 3D elements - and replacing them with texturizing (stamping, punchinella, rub-ons) in browns - would get you closer to your inspiration pieces - and tone down the "busy-ness" of the background which competes a bit from that absolutely FABULOUS heart. Which is just my two cents worth.
